Group Learning Activity Instructions


To add your VoiceThread:

  1. Click the Edit tab in the upper-right corner.
  2. Scroll down the page until you you reach the bottom of the Learning Activity 4-C-1: Create a VoiceThread section.
  3. Click under the last link of the Learning Activity 4-C-1: Create a VoiceThread section.
  4. Type your first name and last initial followed by "VoiceThread" (ex. TimF VoiceThread).
  5. Highlight your your name and VoiceThread name.
  6. Click the Link button on the Editor bar.
  7. Click the External Link tab, if you are not currently on it.
  8. Copy and paste your VoiceThread link in the Address textbox.
  9. Click the checkbox next to New Window.
  10. Click Add Link.
  11. Press Save on the Editor bar.

To edit the Overcoming Barriers table:

  1. Click the Edit tab in the upper-right corner.
  2. Scroll down the page until you you reach the Learning Activity 6-D-1: Overcoming Barriers section.
  3. To add a barrier, highlight "Enter barrier here." text and type in your barrier. To add a solution, highlight "Enter solution here." text in the cell to the right of the barrier and type in your solution. If another solution already exists, type your solution under it. Note: Be sure to add your initials at the end of your barriers and solutions so you receive the correct amount of credit for your work.
  4. Press Save on the Editor bar.

To comment:

  1. Click on the Discussion tab in the upper-right corner (next to Edit).
  2. Click the New Post button.
  3. In the Subject field, enter a descriptive title.
  4. In the Message field, type in your feedback.
  5. Click Post.

Internet Connection not working.(ES)
  • Use hands on manipulatives first if Internet for virtual manipulatives isn't working.(ES)
  • Have you tube videos or non-website technology options downloaded and ready so they can still be accessed even without the Internet. (ES) If the students are allowed, have them use their cell phones if they have Internet capability.R.L.
Having enough funding or money to have more computers in the classroom or up to date
classroom computers that are up to speed. This would allow for more individualized
interaction on the websites for students, especially if a computer lab is not available.(ES)
  • Check with the computer teacher if one class period could be used to coincide with what is happening in the classroom since the room isn't available for teachers to use on their own with the class. (ES)
  • Develop a rotation so by the end of the week all kids have individually used the classroom computers to work on the interactive site. (There are only 4 classroom computers (ES)
Managing a classroom of 20+ students while using 1 Polyvision/Smartboard.(ES)
  • Develop a system where each person will have at least one opportunity to interact on the board.(ES)
Having enough prep time to create an IMP, teach use of it, and implement it.(ES)
  • Use personal time to plan,prep, and beginning stages of implementation. (ES)
  • Request some additional "classroom time" during PD/faculty days to work on IMPs to share with grade level partners. (ES) Communicate with your administrator about your IMP and relate to him/her the benefits of PBLs. R.L.
